How silence is powerful .

In one of my earlier posts called the new normal categorizations of time, I have given my ways of spending time. One of my favorite way of spending time is spending time in solitude (My time).

I prefer to stay in a calm place in my home. I want enough time to reflect and introspect about various things else I get bombarded by screens.

My digital detox is the time, where I kind of unplug myself from the internet and take myself to the era where we had landlines and internet had never reached India.

My life was much more simple and enjoyable in the pre-internet era from an attention span perspective. Nowadays, most of us have very less attention spans.

We are always glued to ” screens” right from the day we open our eyes, till we hit the beds at night, and we start the day again with ” screens”.

I would prefer solitude to being alone, as in solitude, I reflect and do my mental chatter and analysis of my day, or plan for the day ahead.

I read somewhere,everything is created twice, once in the head and then the physical manifestation.

I feel that spending time alone with oneself with the thoughts everyday preferably in the early morning or late at night, on these things two things :

  1. Have I learnt something new today? A skill? Added value to anyting?
  2. Have I made someone happy? Helped anyone in the smallest possible way?

I think, these trigger thoughts would help in bringing a calm and wonderful day, making the surroundings and community a cohesive and a great place to be.

  1. Yea, “me time” is very important to stay connected with one’s true self, to stay clear about one’s purpose of life, and remain unfazed by the turmoils like covid-19 happening around in the world. Well said, dear Ethel.


  2. Some lovely points are very relevant to the present situation. Being calm and uncluttered enables us to arrive at sound decisions.
    My way these days is to walk in natural surroundings, breathing and physical exercises. And try my best to remain cheerful 😃

  3. I spend time daily in quiet meditation. The first part of it is my mental chatter. I like how you called it that. Once I’m done thinking all those thoughts about the day, the past, and/or the future, I settle into quietness and turn my focus to God. I think it’s important to have this quiet time too and often it’s hard to carve out time for it. I really like the questions you ask yourself. I’m going to add them to my routine. Thank you for your post! Very helpful
